When we bought our house over three years ago, we took everything out, down to the studs. Except for our bathrooms and the kitchen, they were in good shape and didn't need to be renovated at that time. Since then, we have renovated our master bathroom because of mold. And now we have done the kids bathroom. (All that's left is the kitchen, and that will be probably 30 years down the road before we get to that.)
The kids bathroom was a Jack and Jill bathroom. It linked the boys room with Cora's room. Now that we are having a fourth baby, we have had to move the boys into the playroom, Cora into the boys previous room and opened up the nursery. With that being done, it was not easy for the boys to get to the bathroom, having to go through a bedroom to get there. So we closed in both of the doors that were there. Moved the shower to where the doors were, and moved the current door to where the shower was, in the hall. So now the entry into the bathroom is in the hall where everybody can easily access it without waking anyone up at night.
Bathroom before, from Cora's room.
Bathroom from the nursery.
Shower (this is where the door is now).
July 8th, we started our journey! Six weeks until the baby comes. Can we make it?
We made lots of Lowe's trips during this time. After the first two or three trips, we got a babysitter…
From the hall, looking into the bathroom.
Standing in the nursery, this is what you see now. One thing I left out, we did not redo the nursery room when we redid the house because it had sheet rock in it and we didn't think it needed to be replaced at that time. Since we already had one wall out, we decided to go ahead and re-insulate and resheetrock this room. So NOW every room will have been renovated except for the kitchen.
We have had some great workers along the way. Byron Sprayberry is THE man. After Brad did the demolition to the bathroom and the nursery, Mr. Byron came in and restuded and reframed doors and walls and also hung all of the crown molding and baseboards in the bathroom, nursery, hall, master bathroom and our bedroom. (I've been wanting crown molding in our bathroom and bedroom since we moved in three years ago. Now I finally have it!)
This is the bathroom and part of the nursery.
The nursery with the old insulation.
Sheet rock went in today! Jaden was helping Brad wipe down the walls so that they could be primed and get ready to be painted.
The bathroom now has sheet rock!
The walls are primed!
Crown molding and base boards are in.
Getting ready to tile the floor and shower.
It's looking like a bathroom!
Anders took a picture of Mr. Dale in action! Almost finished painting!
Missing a few elements, but we have a functional bathroom now!! We've never appreciated having two bathrooms in the house before now.
Boys will be boys…
I haven't bought accessories yet for the walls, but we now have a new and improved bathroom! We could not be happier!
While Mr. Dale was painting the bathroom and the nursery, we decided to let him go ahead and paint Cora's blue wall. (This used to be the boys room, so we had the blue wall and green stripe. I painted the green stripe pink, but haven't gotten around to painting the blue wall, being in my last trimester.)
She loves it!!
Now, to clean out her room...
Now it's a girl room! (This bedding was mine when I lived at my parent's house.)
The nursery is complete! 2 days before the baby is to arrive is plenty of time to get everything settled in its place.
The dresser was the first thing my mom ever bought when she found out she was having Eric. It has made it from her first baby, to her 10th grandchild! I painted it, to go with the nursery.
Now we wait for our new baby!!
